Mental health in the workplace
How do you ensure a vital organization with mentally healthy employees? The number of reports of overwork and burnout as an occupational disease continues to rise every year. Covid-19 made this and other stress complaints worse.
HR professionals are looking hard for solutions to decrease absenteeism, reduce workplace accidents, increase productivity and employability, among other things. They know that an attractive work environment and high salaries only work temporarily. The question is: How do you ensure sustainable personnel management and optimal utilization of existing potential? The answer is energy management through Mindboxing®.
Energetic employees perform better
Mindboxing® ensures that employees learn to deal consciously with their own energy reserves. Actually, by definition you are always your own biggest opponent, the energy guzzler from within. This begs the question: how does an employee engage in battle with himself or herself so that he or she becomes more mentally fit, emotionally stable and confident? Where do you get the energy from?
Three Batteries® method: measurable results
The success of the Three Batteries® method lies in its 100-day (!) focus on breaking habit patterns and changing behavior in small steps. The language and tools are simple, but proven effective.
On the way to greater personal resilience, the metaphor of the three batteries of Thinking Power, Feeling Power and Body Power is used measurably:
– Start with a baseline measurement (3BTQ questionnaire)
– Self-monitoring energy balance using the Three Batteries® App
– Awareness of the most important personal energy consumers at home and at work
– Hardcover book ´The battle between your ears´ with 76 practical recharging tips of your choice
– Handing out and taking blows as a team with the Three Batteries® charging game
– A final measurement that invites you to recharge yourself for another 100 days. This stimulates embedding and lasting effect.
Testimonials: education and prison staff
CASE 1: EDUCATION
Working in education is dynamic on the one hand. On the other hand, high work pressure is a common complaint. Because many different capacities are called upon. As an example, SOPOH, an educational organization with over 20 elementary school in the western part of the Netherlands. In 2016, they were the first to offer its employees an annual opportunity to participate in the Mindboxing® – mental resilience training.
Henske Mols, at the time SOPOH case manager Occupational Health and Safety/P&O advisor: ‘In order to prevent employees from experiencing excessive work pressure, we asked Jan Sleijfer to organize a workshop Mindboxing® – mental resilience. The aim of the training is that employees can cope more easily with the diversity and intensity that the teaching profession entails. They can better relate after the training and set their own course within what needs to be done. This ultimately contributed to our mission “to achieve the best for every child, with Passion, Fun and Professionalism.
Case 2: JUSTICE
A second example concerns Justice. Working within the Department of Correctional Institutions (DJI) has changed significantly in recent years. Increasingly heavy demands are placed on correctional staff. On a daily basis, employees face physically, mentally and emotionally stressful factors in their contact with detainees.
Research (2017) among 277 prison officers, 198 men and 79 women (average age 49.5 years) shows that the recharging tips from the Three Batteries® method actually make justice personnel physically and mentally stronger. Not only the employee himself, but also the organization benefits today. Curious? On request we will send you the research results.
Contact and a good employment
Energetic employees not only contribute to the success of an organization, but they also experience more happiness in life: ´Fit for the job & fit for life´. Something for you? This can be done in many ways. From a fun team outing Mindboxing®, a theme day vitality to a serious multi-year component of HR policy.
These activities are organized together with Jan Sleijfer. Jan is an expert in the field of performing under pressure, founder of NLsportpsycholoog, author of the book Mindboxing® and inventor of the Drie Batterijen® method. Together you get everyone moving to get energy from work.
